Dogs VS missionarys

Hello family,

This week was a really eventful week, a lot of things happened. First, after our weekly planning on Thursday we had dinner and then went out tracting for the rest of the night. We tracted up this one street and the first house that we went to had two dogs that were barking at us like they wanted to attack us so I planned out an escape route just in case the dogs were going to attack. I stood my ground because we were going to knock on the door. the dogs came closer and closer and I just stretched out my arm wanting them to come to me. One of the dogs came right up to me a little cautious but when I started to pet it, it was like we were best friends. Then the other dog that was there, saw that I was nice so he decided to come over as well. The dogs were friends to us after that. The only sad thing was that we knocked on the door and nobody answered.

Tracting the rest of that evening was not the greatest because we didn't find anybody else to teach. But on the way back to the truck we were walking past the first house where we made friends with the two dogs, and there was a third dog (that was a pug). It was a yappy annoying dog. And when it came up to us and it was trying to attack our ankles and it got pretty close a few times but I moved my foot out of the way and it would back off and then try again. It did this for a good 5 minutes as we were walking. I  didn't want it to ruin my pants so I turned around to face it and I was walking backwards for a few feet and it backed away. When I noticed that it was going to stay there and not follow us any farther, I decided to turn around and just keep walking. But as I was turning around the dog came up and as my foot swung around, my foot uppercutted the dog in the face. It wasnt very hard though and I didnt mean to hit it, it just so happens that my foot and the dogs face met at the right time. The  only interesting thing was that the pug came back even more fearce but he was a little more cautious this time. He ended up going away and we laughed about how I accidentally hit the dog (which it was an accident) but from elder Rowleys  perspective it seemed like I did it on purpose because it was a really nice hit.

The  last thing that happened this week was when we were up in Seeley Lake for the weekend. On Saturday, the branch put on a family history fair. The past few times that they have done it, they have done it at the church and nobody would show up for it. So they decided this year that they were going to do it at the community center. All the members there thought  that nobody was going to show up like times before. But  when we opened the doors, within minutes there were about 5 people there on the computer finding their ancestors. One lady that I was helping out on the computer has been looking for her great grandfather for a few years. She has looked all over ancestry.com and other sites. but as soon as she even typed just the name in on familysearch.org. It came up within the top 5 results! and it had her great great grandfathers name! Every one that came in, found at least one person. It was a great activity!
there was a member at the family history fair that had a table where he was doing calligraphy. He was doing calligraphy of the last names of the members at the fair. Elder Rowley asked if he would do one for him, and he did. I have always been curious in calligraphy, So when it was not very busy I was over there learning how to do calligraphy. At the end of the fair when we were all packing up. He had some extra supplies of ink, paper, pens, and tips and he wanted to give them to me, because he admires people that love calligraphy because it is a dying art. I told him that he didnt have to give it to me, but he did anyway. he also said that he self-taught himself calligraphy while on his mission. So you might be getting a few letters that are calligraphy from now on. haha!

Well that was my week. There has been a lot of things happening here in Clinton, two weeks ago we had nobody to teach. but now we have 5 people on date for baptism.

Hello family,

This week was a pretty good week. On Wednesday we had a lesson with E. who is on date for baptism. We taught the gospel of jesus christ lesson and we brought a member with us that recently came off of her mission about a year ago. the lesson went really well. He said that he really wants to come to church now.

On Thursday we went tracting the whole night after dinner and we Tracted into a southern baptist preacher!!!! we simply talked with him and he said in his own words, "you can for sure come back next week and we will talk." when we left we talked about what he meant. We hope that it will not be bashing session because none of us really know the bible to well like a preacher.. I have been trying to finish the new testament since thanksgiving and I'm only in 2 corinthians. We asked for some help from a previous mission president/stake president in Seeley lake, on what to do if it becomes a contentious bible discussion. He helped us understand what to do, becuse it's not our purpose to argue doctrine, but to help people come closer to Christ and to a be able to have that personal relationship, and have better understanding of his importance and share our knowledge of the restored gospel.

We had a lesson with E and his brother J. on Saturday as well. but the whole time we were answering questions that were super deep doctrine! It was an intense lesson and when we left my mind was
fried. The rest of the night I was still trying to process what was taught and everything that was explained in that lesson. that was probably the deepest doctrinal lesson that I have been in.

Yesterday, Sunday, we both had the opportunity to speak in church. We both talked about unity and I focused on unity between the members and the missionaries in missionary work. I focused my talk on the general conference address be elder Chi hong Wong of the 70 which was called, "rescue in unity" it was a good talk. I also played the intermediate hymn. but I played a solo. played the "I  am a child of god" arrangement and everybody loved it.  Besides all of that we were very excited that E came to church by himself!!! He really liked church and EVERYONE in the ward said hello to him and welcomed him.

Today during my studies I finished the book of mormon for the second time on my mission. Tomorrow I will be starting my third time reading it. Here is a poem that I wrote literally on the spot right now.

The book of mormon is true, and it is also blue.
The church is true too, through and through
and if you dont believe it, then go and read it.
Pray To find out if it is true
peace out!

I know that this is probably the worst poem that you have ever read because you cant rhyme the same words together.

But other than that, this week was very busy. There was a lot of stuff to write about but I chose the things that were the highlights of the week. Have a good week. I ll send some pictures that I took this week. and you'll have to upload them to photo bucket if you want. Try and get all of the pictures off
of there and see if you can make a slideshow or something you can.
